Pretrial Intervention – Part 1
Pretrial Intervention, also known as Pretrial Diversion, is a program offered to some criminal defendants by the District Attorney’s Office. If the defendant completes the program, he/she is eligible to have their criminal charges dismissed. When the program was initially instituted, several years ago, it was designed to be offered to first offenders charged with non-violent crimes. It is my understanding that in recent months the program has been expanded to include additional types of offenders.
